imposter-game.com is a free online version of the classic imposter party game — the hidden-role guessing game where everyone gets the same secret word except one player, the imposter, who has to bluff their way through without being caught.
It plays pass-and-play on a single phone or laptop: no app to install, no account to create, and nothing to download. Pick a category, choose how many players and imposters, and pass the device around to reveal each person’s secret word. Then give clues, discuss, and vote out who you think the imposter is.
Why we built it
Most “find the imposter” sites we found were slow, buried in pop-ups, or rendered entirely in the browser after a spinner — bad for quick party play and bad for anyone who just wants to read the rules. We wanted a version that opens instantly, works at a party where the Wi-Fi is bad, and has the actual game and rules right there in the page.
So we built one focused on three things: a fast pass-and-play game, a flexible word generator for making your own rounds, and a browsable word bank you can copy or print. Everything the game needs ships in the page itself.
How it works
- Pass-and-play, offline-friendly. One device, 3–20 players. The game logic runs locally, so it keeps working even on a spotty connection.
- Your own word packs. The generator lets you set the category and difficulty, and the word bank is organized so you can grab a set fast. New to it? Start with how to play.
- Printable cards. For groups that prefer paper, generated pairs can be printed as cards — identity shown by a label and border style, not just color.
Who makes it
imposter-game.com is a small, independent project run by people who actually play these games. We test rounds with real groups, keep the rules honest and clear, and add categories and variants based on how people use the site. We’re not a big studio — which is exactly why we read every message that comes in.
